Rec and Well-Being

Recreation and Well-Being Program promoting a healthy lifestyle and prevention of harm such as Alcohol and other Drug use through exercise and nutrition to help young people manage anxiety, stress, depression, and relationships. Recreation and exercise are significant elements of preventative health care. The program is run at the "OUR GYM - Nelson Bay" or the Tanilba Bay Tennis Courts (Pickleball) and outside in the fresh air where the young people can improve their physical well-being, reduce their stress, and gain confidence in their skills whilst having fun.

 

Mindfulness Matters

Mindfulness-Matters is a holistic group program for young people between the age of 12 and 25 held on Wednesdays at Salamander Bay and Thursdays at Tanilba Bay.  This program is for young people to make connections and friendships, learn mindfulness techniques, connect in with the physical and mental well-being and find new ways of managing mental health and addictions.

These include, but not exclusive to:


  • Breathe Techniques
  • Progressive muscle relaxation
  • Eat, sleep and exercise
  • Looking after yourself
  • Self-love/care
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Creating daily & weekly routines
  • Planning/organization
  • Music and movement
  • Challenging anxiety

and so much more!
